Dinner used to be my favorite part of the day.
And then life shifted. I became the only grown-up at the table, and somewhere along the way, the ritual disappeared. We ate whenever. I ordered in whatever. The conversations faded.
I knew I needed a way back. Not a system. Not something perfect. Just something simple — a small ritual to help us reconnect.
So I made this deck.
I painted 100 watercolor backgrounds during one of the hardest seasons of my life. Later, my daughter and I sat together and brainstormed questions — real ones, curious ones, playful ones. Those questions, layered on top of that artwork, became PlayFULL Talk.
We keep the cards in a bag and draw one or two at dinner. That’s it. No rules. No wrong answers.
And something shifted.
The kids love drawing a card. I love hearing them engage with questions I never would have thought to ask. I love seeing my own artwork — flaws and all — on vibrant watercolor backgrounds. I love that we brought them to a restaurant and it felt just as good.
